Score a slam dunk with the JD Sports Australia line-up of Jordan shoes and clothing. Celebrating the extraordinary legacy of legendary NBA player Michael Jordan, the Jumpman brand is the home of some of the most famous basketball sneakers in the game. You’ll no doubt recognise the Air Jordan 1s, the high-top sneakers that redefined the style of the court and beyond. These iconic shoes continue to dominate the footwear industry, even after decades of exposure, and they’re not the only ones refusing to take a seat on the bench. Later collections, such as the J4 and 3, are as popular as ever, inspiring a frenzy of excitement with each retro re-release.
The History of Air Jordan Shoes
The brand finds its roots in 1984, when Nike formed a partnership with soon-to-be basketball-celebrity Michael Jordan. One year after the contract was signed, the AJ1 made its debut on the court, drawing controversy (and media attention) because of the sneakers’ unconventional colour scheme, which favoured red and black colours over the white required by the NBA. Consequently, Nike were forced to pay fines on behalf of Jordan, though the payoff was immense.
Today, the Jordan brand is separate from Nike, having been established as a strong independent player in the footwear market. Every sneakerhead can recognise the Jumpman silhouette, the logo depicting the NBA star himself scoring a slam dunk in mid-air. Not only are AJ1s still making the rounds, available in high, mid, and low styles, but they’ve also been joined by loads of fresh collections, from the 4s to the 11s.
Court-Ready Jordan Clothing
Air Jordan shoes are the topic of most discussion, but the brand has also put its talents to use on a range of clothes, including hoodies, shorts, jumpers, and jerseys. These high-quality products feature the signature Jumpman logo on clothing designs that bring the sporty aesthetic of the basketball world. Browse the JD AU collection to complete the look!
