This was achieved using pressurised air inside a flexible bag, which reacted to each step to protect the wearer and allow them to excel in any activity, whether running around the track or strolling down the footpath. Beyond its performance benefits, Nike Air has revolutionised street fashion by making the Air unit visible for its Air Max line of shoes, the original being the Air Max 1 (created by legendary designer Tinker Hatfield).
